How 'bout them Jackets!?

Tonight I got to head to the McThriller Dome (Alexander Memorial Coliseum, for those unfamiliar, home of the basketball Yellow Jackets) to see Georgia Tech take on the Blue Devils from Duke. I was totally excited to be there to watch the Jackets whoop up on the #11 Blue Devils. The start of the game was not in favor of the Jackets, but around the five minute mark the tide changed and Tech took control for the rest of the night. The McThriller Dome was rockin'. It was so electric in the building every play was a chorus of cheers or roaring boo's.

Ra'sean Dickey played like a BEAST tonight. Could not be stopped by McRoberts or any of the other McFool's on that team.

Anthony Morrow was on fire from beyond the arc. This is how it sounded when he got the ball. Catch. Shoot. Drain. Explosion of cheer's.

Javaris Crittenton controled the game phenomenally. Remember, this kid is a freshman and he handles the rock like a seasoned vet.

Thaddeus Young played big tonight definitely living up to the hype he has and so rightly deserves.

Mario West shut them down when he came in the game. Not enough can be said for "Super Mario." A few big steals led to a few big points.

"Mouha" (Mouhammad Faye) played well.

Jeremis Smith was beastlike much the same as Ra'Sean.

Tech rolled to a 74-63 win over the 11th ranked Blue Devils. After the game the students rushed the court. It was a huge win and it will show people that the Jackets mean business.

Do you remember the feeling of the National Title game run a few years ago?

Get ready to feel it again.
This time we take it all.

Buckeyes = Gator Bait

HOW 'BOUT DEM GATORS!?!?
Ever since the University of Florida earned their spot in the National Championship game all I have heard is Ohio State is going to run all over them. Well, I am not sure if all those people got the memo: Speed Kills. Chris Leak, Tim Tebow, Percy Harvin, Dallas Baker, and the rest of the O took it straight to the Ohio State defense. Jarvis Moss, Derrick Harvey, Brandon Siler, Earl Everett, Reggie Nelson, and the rest of the D would not let Troy Smith get anything going.
The kickoff to open the game was a little worriesome until they kicked the ball back and with a few key penalties the Gators were right back in it, on top, and never looking back. It was a fantastic game.
I got sick of hearing how Ohio State was gonna muscle up with Florida and just crush 'em. Florida played a much tougher schedule and escaped it nearly unscathed. Ohio State played two teams in Michigan and Wisconsin, and a bunch of cupcakes for the rest. Florida beat LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida State, etc. A loss to a very good Auburn is reasonable (but unacceptable) when you play the schedule the Gators did.
Nobody can say that Ohio State is the best team in the land. The Gators hold that title now. Reigning National Champs in Men's Basketball and Football never done before now. The Gators hold the keys to the world of college sports.
If anybody wants a National Championship they must head to Gainesville. After they make the attempt at taking it away the will find out what it feels like to be...
!!!GATOR BAIT!!!

A-Train's Sport's Year

2006...Most definitely not my sport's year. Let's take a peek at why with my sport's checklist.

Atlanta Braves - World Series Champions...No

Atlanta Falcons or Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Super Bowl Champions...Nope

Phoenix Suns - NBA Champions...Nada

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets - Men's Basketball National Champions...No (although Florida winning was definitely a good thing.)

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets - College Football National Champions...Nope

Yes, 2006 was disappointing, but it is now 2007 and things are already looking pretty good. I am declaring 2007:

A-Train's Year of Sports
Kicking the year off will be the Florida (football) Gators. January 8, 2007 the Gators will be taking home the 2007 ADT National Championship. As my uncle would say, "If you're not a Gator, then you're Gator Bait." With that said I guess we can all guess what that would make the Buckeyes from Ohio State.
Later this year during the Madness of March either the Ramblin' Wreck of Georgia Tech or the Gators of Florida will be walking away from the Georgia Dome, National Champions. The Jackets will capture it with the help of two superstar young bucks, Thaddeus Young and Javaris Crittenton. If it is not in the cards then the Gators will take it with their experience having returned all five starters from the 2006 National Champion squad.
The Phoenix Suns, led by two-time (gonna be three-time) MVP Steve Nash and "The Matrix" Shawn Marion, will find themselves NBA Champions sometime in June.
The Atlanta Braves have bulked up the bullpen with Rafael Soriano, Tanyon Sturtze, resigning "Big" Bob Wickman, and letting Chris Reitsma walk away (Thank Goodness). Mike Hampton will make his return and Smoltzie and Hudson are back and ready to take the team back to the promised land. The Jones Boys will be swinging for the fences with Franceour and McCann. BRAVES WIN, BRAVES WIN, BRAVES WIN. Can't wait to here that again at the end of October.
2006 was a little rough, but 2007 will be smooth sailing for my sport's year.
